First I want to offer our thoughts and prayers to Gaines Adams and his family. The Chicago Bears defensive end was 26 years old and died this morning of cardiac arrest. The number four overall pick in the 2007 draft was looking for a new start in Chicago and towards the end of the season it seemed like he might revive his career. In 47 games, Adams had 67 tackles and 13.5 sacks. ESPN is reporting that Adams had an enlarged heart which was the cause of the cardiac arrest. It is always a shame to loose somebody that young in any situation, and again we extend our prayers to both his real family and football family.
On to a better note, unless your a Cowboy fan, the Vikings are absolutely causing a ruckus in the Metro Dome this afternoon. Brett Favre and Sidney Rice have diced the Dallas defense up to this point and are leading 20-3. Tony Romo has fumbled three times, two of them were lost. He has been sacked six times, and has been hit around ten. The offensive line looks like the guy Ronnie dropped in The Jersey Shore (just laying there motionless while the Viking defense hoots and hollers in their face). Romo looks like he might cry either from the pain from being hit, the mistakes (3 fumbles, and a interception), or because he wants to look like Joe Flacco (Flacco always looks like he might cry. He is like the fat kid that always wants to play tag, but when he's "it" and can't catch any of the faster kids, he sits down in the middle of the park and is seconds away from tears). If things couldn't get any worse, Shaun Suisham might be thrown off the top of the massive jumbo-tron that inhabits Jerry's World for his two missed field goals. There is still time left and hopefully the Cowboys can put something together to make this game interesting. Updates will come.
I said Updates would come, and here it is. Favre connects with Sidney Rice for a third touchdown between the two. Game blouses. Oh and Favre looks like a 25 year old still and his arm is as dependable as ever. Look out Saints, this Vikings defense isn't going to roll over and take it sideways like the Cardinals did last night.
And it has been another NFL playoff dud. Romo crapped his pants all game, and the Vikings decided they would rub the Cowboy's face in it by letting Favre come back out with the game already won, and letting him drive down the field. He capped it off with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Visanthe Shiancoe with 1:55 left on the clock. Loved the call. Keep it rolling Brett, keep it rolling. This game could have been different if Romo had time to get some passes off because the Cowboy receivers had the upper hand against the Viking secondary. But big ups to the Viking front four for making Romo's life a living hell not only for this game, but for the rest of his off season.
