P.S. Post: Amari Spievey

Well, we here at The Manchise believe that Adrian Clayborn's decision to stay at Iowa all started with this little post. Then came a wonderful facebook group containing over 500 Hawkeye faithful that we think Adrian visited (somebody tagged him in all of the pictures, and we are hoping it was him). So after learning that Amari Spievey is sitting on the fence, we thought that maybe it is our destiny to push him over to the Black and Gold side for one more year. So Hawkeye Nation here is our latest P.S. Post!

Dear Mr. Spievey,

You may have heard of us from Adrian Clayborn (we have active imaginations, I know). We are two HUGE Hawkeye fans with too much time on our hands. SO what does that mean for you? Well we, as the two hawkeye fans with a blog and active imaginations, want to convince you to stay one more year at Iowa. This might be a lucrative cause, but we must do it. We just only hope that this reaches you in time.

Amari, you said so yourself, "“If I leave, it’s going to hurt, I’m going to miss these guys". IT is going to hurt. It's going to hurt Hawkeye Nation that loves seeing you week in and week out in Black and Gold. You would be leaving a core of guys with two bowl wins in the past two years. You will be leaving a team that has a chance to be best defense in the Big Ten (and hopefully a National top ten defense). One more year can do wonders for your career. You will be one of the senior leaders on a nationally recognized defense at a time where Iowa Football as well as the Big Ten are back on the map (which means more scouts watching you play on a week by week basis).

You have been a key part of a defense that won the Outback Bowl and Orange Bowl. A defense that has shut out high power offenses like Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Penn State and Arizona. Speaking of Penn State, you also have a chance to beat Penn State three times in a row (something that has not happened very often during the Joe Pa era). You can seek revenge on Ohio State at Kinnick, and go to Evanston and kick the living crap out of Northwestern (finally ending this win streak they have over the Hawks). You can seek true perfection, and it will start on your side of the ball (I realize I'm jumping the gun a little bit, but I'm excited).

But I'm sure I don't have to sell you on how good the defense is going to be. So think about this: The Iowa offense is going to be led by a senior quarterback, a senior wide out, Marvin FREAKING McNutt, an amazing running back corp, and one of the nations best punters that continuously pins opposing offenses in terrible field position. Add in the ceiling for Keenan Davis, the return of Paul Chaney Jr and Jewel Hampton and I think the Hawk offense will be able to score some points (that is if your not already scoring for them). This team, if you stay, has the potential to do something big next year. Something EPIC, something memorable, something that can be life changing for you, Iowa, and the Big Ten.

If that is not enough yet, think about this Amari: Do you remember what it felt like walking through the tunnel and hearing how loud it was at the Orange Bowl? I sure do, I was there. The place was shaking. It was as if a Black and Gold hurricane ripped through Land Shark Stadium and sat down to watch the game. Do you remember how it feels to hear Back in Black while Hawkeye fans scream at the site of you walking down the tunnel? Do you remember the noise Tony Moeaki got when he ran out on senior day? Magnify that by 10! Think about how all of that will feel as a senior. Think about how much more you are going to appreciate your time at Iowa, the fans, and football as a whole. Think about the applause and roar you will get when Mark Abbott screams into the microphone "From Middletown Connecticut, number 19, AMARIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-I-I-I-I-I Spieveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"! All eyes on you Amari, ALL EYES ON YOU!

Your name is being uttered around by NFL scouts, but make them scream your name. Make them know who you are, and the talent you have. Lead by example, and play your heart out. Play for the future money. Play for Iowa. Play for all of the fans that want to send you off right on senior night. Play for the title as a "First Round Draft Pick". Play for Kirk, Norm, and the rest of your coaches and teammates. Play because you believe in the group of guys that surround you. Play because you know that this team can do something truly special. Play for the love of football!

Nobody can make the decision but you Amari, but think about all you have at Iowa, and all that could be. If you have even the slightest doubt, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY. I'm sure you wont regret it. But either way Amari, you have had a great career so far at Iowa, and speaking for Hawkeye Nation, we hope that you come back for one more year! A year that has the potential to be one of the greatest at the University of Iowa.

Truthfully yours,

The Manchise
