I’d like to start off by giving some much undeserved attention to Chris Pronger. This guy is really something. There is nothing I want more than for Seabrook to hip check him into the third row and then beat his ass in a fight. Unfortunately for us though, Pronger is too much of a lady to drop the gloves. He’d rather let his stick do the talking with countless cheap shot after cheap shot. During the second period Monday NBC ran an in game highlight reel in an attempt to glorify the tenacious play of Pronger. They showed 4 highlights of plays he had made up to that point in the game. Send that footage to any referee not officiating in this series and you would have hooking, slashing, cross-checking, and roughing respectively for each clip. How the hell does a guy like him get away with doing stuff like this? It’s not even like he’s sneaky about it, the calls are so blatantly obvious I don’t know how someone hasn’t taken a page out of Marty McSorley’s book and two handed him across the face. I understand that Pronger has made a living tight rope walking the line of great aggressiveness and dirty play but this is getting ridiculous. If the refs aren’t going to intervene then the Hawks need too. A couple real hard slashes and cross checks from the likes of Buff and Brouwer will force the refs to open their eyes and call things both ways.
But that’s enough virtual ink wasted on that ass clown, let’s keep trucking through this plethora of Hawks thoughts on my mind. Where are you Patrick Kane? You have established yourself as (in my opinion) the best puck possession playmaker in the game. Let’s see some of that. Dangle around the half boards, make some nifty passes, let that mullet take over you.
Someone fight already… Burish and Carcillo, Eager and Pronger, I don’t care who it is but let’s see someone drop the gloves. Imagine how electric the game would be with the added intensity that comes from a fight. I’m sick of players running to the refs after every whistle. Pronger slashed you? Drop your gloves and clock him square in the jaw. Make him know that if he wants to play like a tough guy he’s going to have to actually prove his toughness. I find it funny that something (fighting) that is such a big part of the regular season can vanish so quickly come playoff time.
Do the Flyers have an extra gear? The funny thing about watching Peter Laviolette and his boys talk heading into Game 3 is that I feel like I am watching DVR’ed videos of Todd McLellan and Dan Boyle. Are the Flyers just another San Jose? Or can they slam it into another gear and pull out a victory against our Hawks? I guess we will know soon enough.
This is all I’m going to say for now. All I am looking for tonight is a couple of healthy scraps along with a Patrick Kane sighting. The rest will fall into place after that. I can’t say who’s going to win but I don’t think this one is going to be close. A one goal game is not in my tarot cards. I leave you with two scores: Blackhawks 6 Flyers 2, Flyers 5 Blackhawks 1. I agree completely with your assessment of Pronger. Big Buf takes a huge beating (slash the ankle and crosscheck to the back) every time he gets in front of Leighton from Pronger. The funny thing is the ref is always staring right at them.
Secondly, he stole Eager's game puck and then flicked a towel at Eager instead as he was skating off the ice. Screw that. Eager better blast Pronger tomorrow night right through the boards.
I will leave the writer with one last thought: Cam Janssen is MUCH more of a badass than Chris Pronger.
Hahaha, you're too funny Kevin. The only difference between Pronger and your boy Cam is that Pronger may get higher than a 12 if you made him take the ACT. Pronger is an intelligent version of Janssen, which is what allows him to get away with alot more than Cam does. Also, Cam Janssen would drop the gloves with Mike Tyson in his prime if given the opportunity, pronger would not.
They are both assholes and deserve to be stuck with Barret jackman in St. Louis!
That is true. I think Janssen would chase his tail for hours if he had one.
