MLB:
Mark DeRosa- Mark DeRosa has had plenty of teams looking through his window, but no takers. He was asking for $10 million per season, which seems a little pricey for a guy that did not finish the season very well for the Cards. According to ESPN.com and Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe his price may be coming down a bit. The Yankees, Cards, Red Sox, and Mets will be likely buyers for this utilityman.
Jason Bay- Currently has a four-year offer from the Mets that would be worth about $65 million, but Bay has not yet signed. It seems as though he does not want to play with the Mets or in New York. ESPN.com reported that the Mets may be bidding against themselves, and that Bay might have to end up accepting the Mets offer.
Possible Yankee/Cub Deal?- Roger Rubin of the New York Daily News wrote that the Cubs are interested in Melky Cabrera or Brett Gardner. The Cubs are now in need of an outfielder after trading Milton Bradley to Seattle. The Yankees are wanting to acquire a starting pitcher from the Cubs for one of these two.
Aroldis Chapman- The 21-year old Cuban starting pitcher, that throws a wicked 100-102 mph fastball, has alot of teams interested to sign him this offseason. The Cubs reportedly are now in the hunt as well as the Death Star, the Red Sox, Astros, Nationals, Angels, Marlins, Pirates, Orioles, Reds, Royals, Phillies, Mariners, and Rangers.
Marlon Byrd- The Cubs are busy within MLB trade rumors today. The Dallas Morning News wrote that Byrd is close to deal with the Cubs after they got rid of the migraine that was Milton Bradley. If they can't land Byrd, the Tribune also noted that the Cubs are also looking at Scotty Pods, and Rick Ankiel.
Coco Crisp- It looks as though the Oakland A's are going to sign the free agent outfielder to a one-year deal, that will be worth around $5-million. The signing would solidify Crisp as the starting center fielder in Oakland. This will be Crisp's fourth team in eight-years.
