Here We Go!!!

Well the time has finally come Hawks fans. Tonight our Hawks will have a chance to put their names into hockey immortality. As we all anxiously await the drop of the puck in Game 6 I’d like to leave you with a plethora of reasons why the Hawks will emerge victoriously in tonight’s matchup:

-The almighty Chris Pronger has been neutralized: After his performance in Game 5 the Hawks can be confident even with #20 on the ice.

-The Flyers are not facing the Bruins: Yea Philly has overcome adversity countless times this postseason. However, I feel that most teams would rather ask for the assignment of beating Boston four straight times before being forced to play an elimination game against the Hawks.

-All four lines are rolling: Coach Q’s line changes for Game 5 proved genius as the Hawk’s soared to victory. I don’t think Philly has any answer to this new Hawks look. Even if Pronger brings his A-Game there are still three other lines that can make things miserable for whichever goalie is in net for Philly.

-Last year is no help for Philly: Everyone is saying Philly can look to last year’s Penguins for motivation. Unfortunately for them the Hawks can look at the Red Wings. Nobody on the Hawks wants to see a Game 7 and their play will hopefully show it.

-Hawks stars are ready to shine: Kane, Toews, Buff, Hossa, etc. still have a lot to prove. I think the Hawks will show all of their fans what this team is made of. With everyone firing on all cylinders I look for the Hawks to win pretty convincingly despite being on the road.

That’s all I got. Let’s hope I’m right. Everyone enjoy Game 6. Hopefully we will all have terrible days at work on Thursday because of the excessive celebrating that took place the night before. Go Hawks!!! We believe in you!!!

Buff has 15 hits, a fight, and a hat trick. Conn Symthe right there.

4-0 Blackhawks in Game 6, and the Phlyers get booed off the ice by their own phans.

Pronger goes -5 again. He wins the Conn Smythe for the Blackhawks.

In May of 1971 - just after his 9th birthday - a kid in Brookfield, Illinois cried himself to sleep after listening to the Blackhawks blow a 2-0 lead in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Finals. The next morning he woke up and watched the "highlights" of the game on the Ray Rayner Show before school, and actually almost cried again.

Sure the Blackhawks made the finals a couple of times after that, but they never really had the horses to win the thing. The spectre of 1971 never really went away.

UNTIL LAST NIGHT! The ghosts have been laid to rest!

Congratulations to the Blackhawks, and to those (Paul Czerwien) who saw this coming and never lost faith. It's your win as well. As for me, I sit back and think that there's a kid in Philadelphia who cried himself to sleep last night, and will never forget the dissappointment of losing in the Stanley Cup Finals......but I'm glad it's him now AND NOT ME ANYMORE!
