MLB:
Matt Holliday- The Cardinals and Matt Holliday are standing firm on their offers, and not much progress has been made. The offer is a 5-year deal worth about $16 million dollars a year. The Cardinals have reason to believe that they are only betting against themselves despite rumors of other teams from the one, the only Scott Boras. Well today Buster Olney confirmed that Boras might not be stretching the truth as usual. He reported that in fact, the Red Sox would be interested in Holliday, but for less than what the Cardinals are offering. Olney also wrote that the Mets are looking closely at the negotiations between the Cards and Holliday, but are not yet involved.
Aaron Harang- Now that Randy Wolf has signed with Milwaukee, the Dodgers are looking to fill his spot in their starting rotation. Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times wrote today that the Dodgers are exploring trade options with the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Aaron Harang.
Garrett Atkins- It looks as though the Oriloes will be signing the corner infielder to a one-year deal pending a physical. The Orioles wanted a right handed power bat and they are hoping that Atkins can fill this void.
Nick Johnson- The Death Star is reportedly very interested in bringing Nick Johnson to the Yankees to serve as the their DH. This could be another sign that the Yankees are moving along without Johnny Damon. But what is a good Yankee story without the Red Sox involved. According to ESPNBOSTON.com, the Red Sox are also interested in Johnson.
Dan Uggla- There is a report saying that the Marlins (who have been wanting to unload Uggla for a while now) are in minor trade talks with the San Francisco Giants. But in an article in the San Jose Mercury News, the Giants may be more interested in Mark DeRose, Adrian Beltre, and Nick Johnson because the Marlins are wanting alot for the second basemen.
