98 Days Until Kickoff

98 days until kickoff at Kinnick, 98 days until kickoff....  We started with the ANF decals at #100 and then brought up the dreaded-by-parents all-nighter at #99.  Today, we continue the countdown to Hawkeye football with number 98.

#98 - Will You Marry Me?

So it's a little cheesy and I thought for the longest time it was all staged, but the "Will You Marry Me?" advertisement in the northwest corner of Historic Kinnick stadium is just another one of those little pleasantries that make Hawkeye football great.  Throughout the game, the jumbotron/scoreboard will flash a personalized note asking someone to marry someone else (presumably in the stands).  While it was long believed that the whole thing was a set-up put on by the sponsors, last season I saw a message from an acquaintance asking his long time girlfriend to marry.  I guess it's for real? Anyway, the two have since been engaged (it's Facebook official) and I am all in on the scoreboard proposal.  Lucky for my fiance, we were engaged several months before football season so I won't have the opportunity to take advantage.  For those of you single guys out there, sounds like an opportunity if I ever heard one.  And it's just another great thing about being a Hawkeye from September through January.
