#99 - The All-Nighter
Some of our older readers (who am I kidding, nobody is reading this) may not have experienced this and may not even know what I'm talking about, but I can gaurantee you the youngers have either given it a shot or know someone who has. The All-Nighter, when your genius of a friend suggests you go have a drink or two on Friday afternoon. "C'mon, it's FAC (Friday After Class)!" they torment. So you go have a drink. One turns to two, and then the drinking games start.
Before you know it, it's 2 am and the bars a closing. What to do? The same is only 9 hours away and if you want to get any tailgating in, it's almost worst to go to sleep. So it's off to afties (the after-party). We all have that one friend who's place is never off limits and 2:30 am is no different.
A few drinks, some good laughs and the next thing you know, the sun is coming up. Perfect timing too, as you can see some people are starting to head west. Not to be outdone, you round up the gang and start pre-gaming. A toast to the fight song and a trip to the gas station for a fresh case of your favorite brew. Yes, today is going to be a good day. Just a couple of Red Bulls and a 5-Hour Energy and you will be fine, you say.
So the tailgating begins and the tailgating ends as 11:05 quickly approaches. You stumble into Historic Kinnick Stadium moments before kickoff, but you won't remember a thing. Not to worry, there will be pictures all over Facebook within a couple hours.
So this one's to you, All-Nighter, for making sure the student section is half empty by the end of the third quarter, even when Iowa State's in town. Cheers!
